Project DC

Product set Leviton Brand Rex and Rittal

Client Brief: As part of the campus refurbishment to transform previously compartmentalised working “office labs” to a modern, creative open plan working environment the client recognised that a new centralised data facility where stakeholders could house critical project-based networking equipment was an essential requirement to provide a secure centralised space to facilitate various networks.

ISSI was nominated by the client to integrate with the Clients design team to aide coordination of the design and final specification of the new data centre.  This resulted in various options being reviewed with the client’s stakeholders and ICT department. The result of which established the purpose and dynamics required to ease working practices whilst maintaining the security of assets and access whilst integrating tempest requirements and cabling scenarios.

The facility required the design and installation of 56 Cabinets and Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) in a configuration of 8 rows of 7 cabinets. The cabinets are to form part of a managed facility which utilises four hot aisles. The hot aisles were installed using dielectric fixings to maintain tempest between rows. The installation of the cabinets, earthing, PDU’s, HAC and cabling was completed within 3 weeks.
